Dear parents
It has been a great start back to the second term. We are currently observing the children’s interests at the moment so that we can plan projects around these. With our children being a little bit taller, since the school holidays, there has been quite a few discussions arising about heights and growing up. We will also continue to encourage and develop the afternoon children’s interest in expressing their observations with drawings and their words.

New Equipment purchased – We have had a ‘carpentry house’ built. It is a basic house frame that the children can cover/nail with material, card and paper, this has already proved very popular. We have had two railings placed to give the children more flexibility for climbing with our ladders. We also have had a shelf built to display 3D art, over the white clothing drawers.

Professional Development this term… Pip McGee attended a course in ‘educating to preventing child abuse’ and all of the teachers will be attending a variety of workshops at our CECEAA conference (Christian Early Childhood Education Association of Aoteroa) this month.

Term Dates 2012:
End of Term 2 is Friday 29th June (both sessions)
Term 3 Start Date is Monday 16th July (both sessions)

GENERAL – Some parents may have noticed a rather large ‘Grace’ mural that was outside. This art has been organised by the OCC church to link in with the church’s focus on ‘God’s Grace’. The OCC church will be kindly donating the mural for our enjoyment and for it to become a rock climbing wall for us, at the end of the term.

WANTED – A parent who has expertise in prolonging the life of one of our much loved trees. The tree has a slight insect infestation which could/will eventually affect its life. Thank you to the Musker family (Lucas’ family) who continue to tirelessly raise money for us through the selling of entertainment books. Please see one of the teachers for further information on purchasing one.

Thank you to Carolyn (Anna’s mum) for keeping all of our gardens looking WONDERFUL, this also includes the front garden at the front.

Please support us to purchase new books through your support of Scholastic Books
which are available to order now. Thank you Kelly Teal (Ruben’s mum) for organising this again. Any donations of boxes of tissues would be very appreciated especially with winter looming.

Grace Kindergarten hats and tee shirts are available for sale. Please see the
teachers. They are both $20 each.

We would like to remind you that your child’s portfolio is available for you to look at any time.
Also that we value your feedback at any stage either with a meeting, through a phone call or with
an email.

Parent Help Roster: Due to the weekly/daily changes in our parent help roster we are unable to email out an accurate copy. Please write down the dates you have chosen in your calendar at the time of your choice. If you cannot make your parent help duty – please contact 3 other parents to try to swap before your duty date.

Please speak to myself (Pip) or Ange Marklew if you have any financial concerns regarding paying donations. We understand that this can be a tough financial climate for some of our kindergarten families.
