Dear parents
What a fantastic disco we have had this term. A very big thank you to you, the parents and whanau, who have supported the efforts in this fundraising cause. We raised $876 after expenditure. It was so much fun and the teachers now know where the children get their groovy dancing skills from.

Program – Many activities this term were planned and enjoyed involving the Olympic theme. These included our own Olympic games held over one week, a medal ceremony and the children giving a ‘show and tell’ of the country and culture their family is linked to.
Our afternoon children will be going on a bus trip to the ASB Sports Centre later this month.
The house plans (inside and outside perspectives) developed by the afternoon children will be available for viewing later this week.

Professional Development – Ashleigh Best will be attending a course on the ‘importance of loving maths’. Pip McGee attended a supervisor’s network meeting, in which ERO presented a draft of the changes being made in their review process and the gathering of information.

Kiwi-fruit and Strawberries are now able to be brought into kindy, either as part of the shared morning tea, lunches or afternoon tea. Please note that the following has not changed ‘Please do not bring to kindy any nuts (including peanut butter sandwiches), as we have children attending with severe allergies.’ Also ‘Chocolates, chippies and sweets (including roll-ups) are considered treats and can leave the other children feeling disappointed with their healthier lunches. So we ask you to leave these at home or bring in only as a birthday treat to hand out to all of the children at the gate.’

Term Dates 2012:
End of Term 3 is Friday 28th September (both sessions)
Term 4 Start Date is Monday 15th October (both sessions)
Term 4 End Date is Wednesday 19th December (both sessions)

With the recent increase of sunny days, we are ensuring that our children now wear a sunhat for all outdoor play. Please see the teachers to purchase a ‘Grace Kindergarten’ sunhat which consists of a full brim. Alternatively please make sure that your own fully brimmed hat is available in your child’s bag for use.

Any donations of boxes of tissues would be very appreciated especially during the winter season.
Donations towards the purchase of crackers for the morning children are appreciated. $3 has been the suggested amount per morning session family per term.
Grace Kindergarten hats and tee-shirts are available for sale. Please see the teachers. They are both $20 each.

We would like to remind you that your child’s portfolio is available for you to look at any time. Also that we value your feedback at any stage either with a meeting, through a phone call or with an email.
Parent Help Roster: Due to the weekly/daily changes in our parent help roster we are unable to email out an accurate copy. Please write down the dates you have chosen in your calendar at the time of your choice. If you cannot make your parent help duty – please contact 3 other parents to try to swap before your duty date.
Please speak to myself (Pip) or Ange Marklew if you have any financial concerns regarding paying donations. We understand that this can be a tough financial climate for some of our kindergarten families.
**Remember to pack an extra set of clothes and named drink bottle for your child.
