To all Grace Kindergarten parents and whanau,
Grace Kindergarten has settled into another exciting year. The board would like to welcome all the new families who have joined the Grace Kindergarten community. We hope you and your children find a ‘home’ amongst the wonderful families and children who make Grace Kindergarten so special.
Beginning of the year changes
At the beginning of the year we made some minor changes. We moved from 24 children per session to 25 children. We adjusted the hours to move the morning sessions up from 7.5 hours per week to 9 hours. And we lifted the amount of the donations. These changes were driven principally by the funding rate for early childhood education being held static for the previous 2 years.
The board would like to thank parents and teachers for adjusting to these changes.
These changes should see Grace Kindergarten on a sound financial footing for the next few years – by which time we anticipate the early childhood education funding rates will be adjusted.
Tina Robilliard
We have recently welcomed Tina Robilliard to the Grace Board. Tina brings a broad array of skills to the board. The board is blessed to have a diverse mix of members.
We are currently looking for one more parent/caregiver to join the Grace Kindergarten Board. If you have been thinking that this might be an area in which you could contribute, please talk to one of the existing board members.
Fundraising
Fundraising is an important part of Grace Kindergarten. The events provide opportunities for parents to meet other parents. The funds raised are typically used to purchase equipment. We are currently working towards purchasing some new outdoor play equipment, new chairs and possibly some iPads.
Recently we had the Babysitter’s Club event. Over 30 children spent part of their Saturday at Grace, allowing parents to catch up on all those things that get put on the backburner. The board would like to thank all those who supported this event and particularly Blair MacDonald (the main organizer) and the teachers.
Please watch out for other upcoming events and opportunities to support Grace Kindergarten and be part of the Grace Kindergarten community. Rumour has it that there might be a movie night on its way.
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of Grace Kindergarten will be held at 7.30pm Monday 10th June at Grace Kindergarten. The AGM is an important opportunity for the board to report to its community. We would encourage all parents to attend. As well as reports on the last year, there will be a yummy supper! Please book this date in your calendar.
Applications for Places
Places are available for Grace Kindergarten in 2013. We encourage you to spread the word about Grace to your friends and family. Enrolment forms are available from the teachers or off the website http://www.grace.ac.nz under the “Enrol Now!” tab.
