Dear parents and whanau
Welcome back to term 2 with some lovely sunny weather. We have had a great start to this week with the children very eager to get to know our new teacher Miss Henderson (Beth). Thank you to our parents who have gone out of their way to make her feel so welcome, she has already become a valuable part of our strong teaching team.
Please note the change of the parent help start time for the Younger Tamariki Session from 11.15am to 11am start.
We would like to welcome the following new families to join our Grace Kindy family. A big Grace welcome to Georgia (mum Sophie and dad Ryan), Malachi (mum Amanda and dad Nathan) and Samuel (mum Emma and dad Mark).
At the end of last term we looked at the theme of ‘Our Changing Environment’ with the Older Tamariki enjoying making their own sandwiches from the vegetables we had grown at kindy. We also were able to observe and discuss the several concrete trucks that pumped concrete up through a tall pipe and down into a very long hose which reached into the new church hall foundations.
This week we have been currently looking at the theme of ‘Anzac Day‘. The Older Tamariki have listened to stories about Anzac day with some of the children interested in painting poppy images. We also watched a Youtube video about the poppy and how we honour Anzac day in NZ. Our wonderful children made so many Anzac biscuits that we were able to share them with the Younger Tamariki.
Waiting List
We will have a couple of spots available for our Younger Tamariki session, during the middle of the year. Please grab some flyers if you know of friends and family who might be interested in joining the Grace Kindy family.
Class Photo
A reminder that we are currently selling class photos, taken late last term. The cost is $10 each and ALL of the money raised will go towards purchasing safety matting for our additional kindergarten playground.
Entertainment Books
Please support our kindergarten’s fundraising efforts for our new playground by purchasing and encouraging friends to purchase an entertainment book.
Help Needed
We are looking for someone to kindly volunteer to sand and paint the legs of our water play troughs. Paint and sandpaper will be supplied.
Any tissues donated will be appreciated, especially with the chilly mornings now approaching.
Reminders
As the weather is now very changeable, please remember to include your child’s sunhat and coat. We have sunhats for sale at $20 each, as well as Grace Kindergarten tee-shirts.
