Dear parents and whanau
What a great term we are having with lots of Social and fundraising events happening. This is such a great way to connect with other families from Grace Kindy and form closer relationships. We started off this term with a dessert evening at the Teal’s house. This was followed by a movie night at the Light House in which we raised over $450 for the new playground. Thank you to all that encouraged your family and friends to join us. And also for the enthusiastic board members who organized and baked some wonderful cakes. It really was a great movie, thank you Blair.
The disco is the next exciting event, so please practice your dance moves with your children and book in Friday 11th September 5.30pm to 7pm in your calendars. We will need some helpers with this so please look out for the ‘help list’ which will be on the parent sign-in table from Tuesday.
Our Programme
Our Christian focus for both sessions is on ‘forgiveness’ – How to fix mistakes made and forgiving each other.
This term we are focusing on the way our Younger Tamariki actively explore their environment and what they are learning. Our focus with our Older Tamariki is ‘Ways we communicate with our bodies’ and the ways the teachers incorporate literacy and numeracy into this focus.
Teachers’ Professional Development
Mrs Wee attended a workshop which looked at ways of incorporating the Maori language into our programme in relevant ways.
Praying for you
Did you know that each week the teachers pray for your children? If you have a specific prayer need for your child or for your family please speak to one of the teachers or send us an email. We will happily include that in our prayers.
Parent Help
A reminder to please put your name on our parent help roster, which is now out for term 3. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child and their friends whilst providing much appreciated help for the session.
Waiting List
We may have a couple of spots available at the end of the year. Please grab some flyers if you know of friends and family who might be interested in joining the Grace Kindy family.
Entertainment Books
Please support our kindergarten’s fundraising efforts for our new playground by purchasing and encouraging friends to purchase an entertainment book.
Help Needed
We are looking for someone to kindly volunteer to sand and paint the legs of our water play troughs. Paint and sandpaper will be supplied. Please contact one of the teachers if you can do this.
Any donations of tissues are greatly appreciated, especially with the chilly mornings now approaching.
