 Dear parents and whanau

It has been such an exciting time with lots of social events tied in with the fundraising for our new playground. Thank you all so much for your support. Please checkout our fundraising thermometer.

Already we have had our new storage shed built, temporarily in front of the fort. Later on this week the landscaping will begin and then the safety matting will be laid during the second week of the school holidays.

This Wednesday we are having a ‘coffee and Play’ from 10am to 11.30am for parents and their children who would like to come into our centre for a casual visit.

Please welcome the following new families to join our Grace Kindy family. A big Grace welcome to Huntley Pyke (mum Suzanne and dad Steve), Sylvia Hawkesby (mum Gillian and Christian), Harriet Lester (mum Liz and dad Justin), Jack Britton (mum Sarah and dad Alex), SebastianCole (mum Kerry and dad Matthew), Luke Cobham (mum Kirsty and dad Josh), Lachie Morrison-Clark (mum Carey-Anne and dad Alex) and Makayla Goh (mum Sandra and dad Jonah).

Appreciation

We would like to express a big thank you to Debbie Moore (Bria’s mum) for the work she has done in organizing the silent auction. What a huge success with $1,395 raised.

Thank you to Blair MacDonald (our board member) and fellow cake bakers, for raising $450 at the Movie night.

Also to Mel Lienert (our 4th teacher) and Prolight Electrical who organized our disco, plus the wonderful team of parents who helped to support this social event. We raised a fantastic $806.

We also have greatly appreciated those parents who took part in our ‘builders working bee’.

and having the water trough legs freshly painted by Michelle Stevens (Felicia’s mum).

Art for Christmas Gifts

With Christmas approaching next term we would like to encourage you to start thinking about the special people around you that may cherish a calendar, greeting card, notebook or diary that has your child’s own art on it. Your child has already been busy doing a piece of artwork for this fundraiser. Further information, including the art, will be on display for you to view and place orders at the beginning of term 4.

Later this week we will be sending out information in regards to promoting a bake sale and second hand book and toy sale. This will take place in Johnsonville on Saturday 17th of October (next term).

Programme

Our Christian focus for the Older sessions is continuing with ‘God made our bodies for a purpose’. We also added science experiments to help emphasise this.

The younger session has been looking at ways that “God has made our food’ (trees, vegetables growing etc).

 Other

The teachers have been working on a review about ‘Gaining a Maori Perspective’ during our sessions. Please see the board set up near the sign-in table.

Praying for you

Did you know that each week the teachers pray for your children? If you have a specific prayer need for your child or for your family please speak to one of the teachers or send us an email. We will happily include that in our prayers.

Parent Help

A reminder to please put your name on our parent help roster, which is now out for term 4. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child and their friends whilst providing much appreciated help for the session.

Waiting List

We have a couple of spots available for 2016. Please grab some flyers if you know of friends and family who might be interested in joining the Grace Kindy family.

Entertainment Books

Please support our kindergarten’s fundraising efforts for our new playground by purchasing and encouraging friends to purchase an entertainment book.
