Dear parents and whanau
We are so very happy and proud to be exploring and playing with your children in our new extended kindy playground. The space is fantastic and the children are so very happy having the extra space to enhance their climbing skills and for team sports and games.
This week we have lots of excited children who have begun practicing some of the Christmas songs they will be singing to you at our Grace Kindergarten Christmas Show.
Please mark in your diaries the date for the show which will be Friday 4th December, starting at 6pm.
Please welcome the following new families to join our Grace Kindy family. A big Grace welcome to Tomas Schepers (mum Ann and dad Stijn), Julian Nestmann (mum Daniela and dad Michael), Noah McGee (mum Shayna and dad William) and Toby Hunter (mum Jillian and dad Mark).
Appreciation and Fundraising
Thank you to all of our families who have taken part in our fundraising efforts, we feel truly blessed to be part of such a supportive and encouraging community.
Thank you to Sym Gardiner, from the Grace Kindergarten Board of Management, your continuous hard work over the holidays has been particularly noticed as well as assisting to build our wonderful shed.
Please note that the last fundraiser for the year will be the ’Baby Sitters Club’ on Saturday 12th December.
Programme
Lots of outdoor play – It is so lovely hearing the joyful squeals and laughter of the children enjoying the new larger playground. The teachers are so very happy and have planned a variety of physical play to extend the children’s gross and fine motor skills in the outdoor environment.
We are currently observing the children’s interests as to what focus to start this term. Our Christian focus for both of the Older session is spontaneous prayer.
Other
We have now put up the bible verse which Ashleigh (Miss Best) gifted us, ‘Let the children come unto me’. Esther Van der Voorn (a former board member) had a few years ago expressed that this would be a lovely verse to have up on our wall. So this will be a lovely reminder of both Ashleigh and Esther.
Teacher Goals/Reviews and Professional Development
The teachers have recently done a ‘Music Review’, which has given us the chance to reflect the ways we incorporate Music into our planned and unplanned portion of our programme. This was also an opportunity to research, compare and to inspire each other.
Miss Henderson has recently attended a refresher course in first aid.
Praying for you
Did you know that each week the teachers pray for your children? If you have a specific prayer need for your child or for your family please speak to one of the teachers or send us an email. We will happily include that in our prayers.
Sun Safety
Please remember to bring your child’s sunhat to kindy, also to apply sunblock to your child before their arrival. However if you have forgotten you are welcome to use the kindy sunblock which is on the sign-in table.
Please note that the children will have sunblock reapplied to them by the teachers at 1pm. Please let the teachers know if your child has an allergy to sunblock or if you would rather supply your own sunblock for the afternoon.
Parent Help
A reminder to please put your name on our parent help roster, which is now out for term 4. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child and their friends whilst providing much appreciated help for the session.
Waiting List
We have a couple of spots available for 2016. Please grab some flyers if you know of friends and family who might be interested in joining the Grace Kindy family.
Entertainment Books
Please support our kindergarten’s fundraising efforts for our new playground by purchasing and encouraging friends to purchase an entertainment book.
Help Needed
Any donations of tissues are greatly appreciated.
