15th December 2015

 Dear parents and whanau

What a wonderful and exciting term we are having celebrating the birth of Christ in so many different ways. Such as making props for the Christmas show, decorations to take home, baking and of course holding the actual Christmas show itself.

We had a lovely evening for our Christmas show, with families coming together singing and sharing supper. The children were just fantastic either singing on the stage or singing from the laps of their parents.

We would like to farewell our lovely teacher Beth Henderson and also send out our best wishes and prayers as she moves back to Auckland to help care for her sick father.

We have all appreciated her being part of our teaching team.

Please welcome the following new families to join our Grace Kindy family. A big Grace welcome to Immanuel Perera (mum Therese and dad Dan),

Appreciation and Fundraising

Thank you to those parents who helped us move the chairs for the Christmas show and for also helping us clean up afterwards. You were such a blessing with your kindness.

Thank you to Jillian (Toby’s mum) and our ‘Abacus’ fundraising supporters for helping us raise $382.

The babysitting club raised approximately $200

All of the above proceeds will be used in funding our extended playground.

Programme

Our focus for both of the sessions is Jesus, the son of God. Also reiterating that Jesus wants ‘kindness and love’ for Christmas, also how we can show kindness and love.

We are continuing to do a variety of extended activities over the week with the Older Tamariki Session, such as baking, making sherbet and also creating driftwood Christmas decorations.

We had Esther (our reliever) doing felt making with the children.

Heather (Alex’s mum) recently conducted a music session and Rachel, from Easy Swim, spoke to the children about water safety.

Last week we had Mark and the Fire fighting team visit with their fire engine. The children really enjoyed washing down the Youth Pastor’s van.

Teacher Goals/Reviews and Professional Development

Mrs McGee recently attended a refresher course in first aid and a Supervisors Network Meeting.

Praying for you

Did you know that each week the teachers pray for your children? If you have a specific prayer need for your child or for your family please speak to one of the teachers or send us an email. We will happily include that in our prayers.

Sun Safety

Please remember to bring your child’s sunhat to kindy, also to apply sunblock to your child before their arrival. However if you have forgotten you are welcome to use the kindy sunblock which is on the sign-in table.

Please note that the children will have sunblock reapplied to them by the teachers at 1pm. Please let the teachers know if your child has an allergy to sunblock or if you would rather supply your own sunblock for the afternoon.

Parent Help

A reminder to please put your name on our parent help roster, which is now out for term 1 2016. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child and their friends whilst providing much appreciated help for the session.

Waiting List

We have a couple of spots available for mid 2016. Please grab some flyers if you know of friends and family who might be interested in joining the Grace Kindy family.

Is their a builder in your family that would be willing to help us with some small maintenance jobs?
