Dear parents and whanau

There is so much excitement here at kindy, with the children being so enthusiastic in creating decorations and props for our upcoming Christmas show. Also singing their ever so popular Christmas songs.
As usual I always have that tear in my eye when the children sing ‘Away in a manger’, I am just so proud of them whether they are singing or simply just doing the actions.
The Christmas show is a wonderful opportunity to take time out and remember what and who we are celebrating – Jesus Christ being born. Don’t worry if your child has ‘stage fright’ on the night and doesn’t want to stand up the front. Sitting together and singing some of our favourite songs is still fun for all.
A reminder that our Christmas show is on this Friday the 8th December. The show starts promptly at 6pm so you will need to arrive prior, at 5.15pm the church hall doors are open for you to gather with your children and find a seat. At 5.45pm the teachers will come out and take the children into the kindergarten area for a settling story.

Next week we will be having a puppet show for the Older Tamariki Session. However the Younger Tamariki are also invited as long as they come with a caregiver or a parent. The ‘Little Dog Barking’ company will be providing the show on Thursday 14th December at 1.30pm. We would appreciate a donation of $5 per child for this event.

Programme

For both sessions we have been looking at the birth of Jesus and the meaning of some of the Christmas songs we will be singing.
For the Older Tamariki Session we have also been looking at why the wise men were following the stars, why didn’t Mary just take a car instead of a donkey to Bethlehem and what sort of job is being a shepherd.

Parent Help
A reminder to please put your name on our parent help roster. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child and their friends whilst providing much appreciated help for the session.
We are requiring each family of the Younger Tamariki Session to put their name down to two parent helps each.
Also for the families of the Older Tamariki Session to put their names down for three parent helps each.

Teacher Goals/Reviews and Professional Development

Pansy Wee attended a Teacher’s networking course last week and Nicola has recently attended a course on autism.

Praying for you

Each week the teachers pray for your children. If you have a specific prayer need for your child or for your family please pop into our prayer container (on the sign in table) or speak to one of the teachers. Alternatively feel free to send us an email.
We will happily include that in our weekly prayer time.

Lunchboxes
Please label your child’s drink bottle and their lunchboxes. A sharpie can be used from the teachers’ office.
Please make sure there are no products containing nuts in your child’s lunch. This includes no peanut butter sandwiches and muesli bars containing nuts.

Summer Clothing

This continues to be a very changeable time of the year, so please remember to make sure that your child has access to both a sweatshirt and a sun hat. For all outdoor play the children must be wearing a sunhat.
We encourage you to place sunscreen on your child before their arrival to kindy, however we have a bottle of sunscreen beside the sign-in sheet for use on your arrival.

The teachers will be putting sunscreen onto your child around 1pm. Please advise the teachers if you prefer to provide us with your own child’s sunscreen.
