20th November 2019

Dear parents and whanau

What a wonderful time of the year to be working at grace Kindergarten, where we can have lots of lovely discussions with the children about the real meaning of Christmas.

The  children are having such an exciting time making props and decorations for our upcoming Christmas show, close friends and relatives are also very welcome to join us in celebrating our Christian culture.

The Kindy Christmas Show will be held here on Friday 6th December. At 5.30 the church hall opens, 5.45pm the children will be asked to come out the back with the teachers and the show will begin at 6pm.

The show will be followed by a shared supper.

Songs for the Christmas show that our tamariki will be singing are attached to the email for your enjoyment.

If you would like to borrow one of our kindergarten animal dress-ups please see a teacher who will put this aside for you.

Little Dogs Barking’ puppet show will be coming to Grace Kindy on Thursday 12th December at 1.30pm. Both sessions are invited to come to see ‘The Pond’ – the cost is $7. The kindergarten will subsidise the remainder of the cost.

Please note that any children who wish to attend from the younger session will need to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

We are continuing with our focus on sustainability and kaikiakitanga.  Linking this with the kindy environment, the home environment and showing respect for God’s creation.

The older children made a paper plant container and have  now taken this home with the fast growing sunflower plant grown from seed.

This week Ms O’Dea is showing photos etc of her sustainable tiny house to both of the sessions.

With Christmas fast approaching, we have been having some very insightful discussions, songs and stories about the birth of Jesus. The Older Tamariki have made angels and the Younger Tamariki have decorated the traditional Christmas stars which will be used for props for our Christmas show and then will go home along with a tiny Christmas cake at the end of the term.

Please welcome the following new families to join our Grace Kindy family.

A big Grace welcome to the Bethune family, the Camaivuna family, the Fearnley family, and the Schleif family.

Parent Help

Thank you to the parents who have signed up for Parent Help for term 4. Parent help is a great opportunity to connect with your child and their friends whilst providing much appreciated help for the session.

We are requiring each family of the Younger Tamariki Session to put their name down to two parent helps each. The Older Tamariki Session are needing three parent helps per term. Please note that if you have a child to pick-up from school that the afternoon parent help duty can be made earlier to accommodate this.

Praying for you

Each week the teachers pray for your children. If you have a specific prayer need for your child or for your family please pop into our prayer container (on the sign in table) or speak to one of the teachers. Alternatively feel free to send us an email.

We will happily include that in our weekly prayer time.

Please label your child’s drink bottle and their lunchboxes. A sharpie can be used from the teachers’ office.

Please make sure there are no chocolates, lollies or products containing nuts in your child’s lunch. This includes no peanut butter sandwiches and muesli bars containing nuts. For the Older Session please do not bring in any whole eggs (such as egg sandwiches).

Spring/Summer Clothing

The weather is very changeable, so please dress your child in a couple of layers of clothing, for warmth. Plus on those lovely hot summer days, a top with a sleeve provides your child with better sun protection.

Please remember to pack and label a sunhat for outside play.

Waiting List

We would love to have some more children added onto our waiting list. We currently have some vacancies.

Please grab some flyers, from our sign-in table, if you know of any friends and family who might be interested in joining the Grace Kindy family.

May God bless you and your children.

Kind Regards from the

Grace Kindergarten Teachers
